Mozzarella: competition to win championship

You may have thought the Italians were in crisis over their Mozzarella, but it’s hard to keep a good Italian down when it comes to pride in their culinary tradition.
The mozzarella eating championship prize is given to whoever can eat 20 small portions of mozzarella in the shortest time possible.

The championship occurs at the Salone della Mozzarella di Bufala in Campania.

Winning the event was Gino Palladino who ate one kilo of mozzarella in three minutes.
An incredible achievement, if you think about it.

Other competitors included a high school student, a retiree, an information engineer and a teacher – a diverse range for any championship.
The winner gets a 500 euro coupon to spend on mozarella.
That’s a lot of cheese, and we hope he won’t be eating it all in one go.
