To tip or not to tip: travel advice to Italy and eating in Italy

The article produced a series of comments from Italians themselves on Friend feed, and as we live and work in Italy, we thought we’d give you a little further insight.

When eating in restaurants in Italy, as per any country, there is etiquette to be respected for both the diner and the waiter.
For example, as a diner, when ordering anything other than pizza, you are generally not required to order bread as well.

Bread is included in the service charge of all restaurants, and service charges can vary from anything to two euros to 3.
50 and more if you’re in posh restaurants.
Most Italian waiters would probably kill the author of the article if they knew she was spreading word that you are not required to tip when dining in Italy.
A strange thing particularly for American visitors, but Tip #4 is generally true:
