Naga Munchetty apologises for appreciating offensive tweets

Naga’s co-host, Charlie Stayt, was praised for mocking the flag of Robert Jenrick, Secretary of Housing, because it was not up for standard size for government interviews.

The BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty did apologizes for putting “like” to some offensive posts tweets after an MP appeared on video call with the Union flag as background.

Naga’s co-host, Charlie Stayt, was praised for mocking the flag of Robert Jenrick, Secretary of Housing, because it was not up for standard size for government interviews. But a little later in the evening, the co-host tweeted making it clear that he did not appreciate at all some tweets on the matter, which do not represent his opinion at all.

Charlie had pointed out that perhaps the size of the flag did not meet the standard measurements of government interviews, believing it was a bit small. And even before the camera saw her with her hand over her mouth, Naga clearly laughed in the background.

Naga wrote on social media that she “liked” tweets that were offensive about the use of the flag as a background in a government interview.

She also claimed to have removed those likes, which do not represent her opinion nor that of the whole BBC. She then apologized for any offense she had suffered.
