The Royal Household has just opened the selection process for two Demi Chef de Partie (one of which for pastry) and one Chef de Partie.

Even the Queen Elizabeth and British Royal Family has been short-handed, so much so that they have just opened the search for three new chefs. To be more precise, two Demi Chef de Partie (one of whom is a pastry chef), and one Chef de Partie, who will have to take care of lunches, dinners and royal events not only at Buckhinhgam Palace but in all the residences of the British Crown, and therefore will have to travel following Queen Elizabeth’s movements.

They don’t have to be British: the search is open to aspiring “Royal Chefs” from all over the world.

Queen Elizabeth is looking for three new chefs

The Royal Household has just opened the selection process for two Demi Chef de Partie (one of which for pastry) and one Chef de Partie. Here is how to apply

Three decidedly attractive positions for those who dream of a future in the kitchen: they are all open-ended, all full-time 5 days a week, with a “competitive” salary – as written in the advertisements – that includes 33 days’ holiday a year and the possibility of “live in”, i.e.

living in the palace, thus saving on meals and rent. Moreover, for all three positions, there is time to apply until 8 June.

As for the Demi Chef de partie, the advertisements focus on the possibility of gaining experience in the kitchens of the Royal House, with a team of experienced professionals with whom to learn to work according to the highest standards of catering. Candidates are expected to be highly ambitious, adaptable, with attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team. In addition, while one or two years’ experience is required for the demi chef de partie for the pastry shop, for the demi chef de partie employed in the kitchen there is only talk of “previous experience“, but the ad stresses the importance of the ability to meet deadlines.

Obviously, the role of the Chef de Partie, head chef with coordinating responsibilities, who will have to work alongside the Executive Chef in managing supplies, staff duties, as well as leading the various teams in the kitchen, is more complex. Even in this case, the level is not specified: a “certain amount of experience in a first-class kitchen” is required, but, before that, technical skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to prepare menus with “high quality ingredients” for any type of event, whether lunches or gala dinners that soon, once the Covid emergency has passed, will resume in the royal residences.
