From July 19 England will see no more covid restrictions

For now the vaccination campaign has proceeded well, as we can see from the following tweet, 45 million people in UK have received their first vaccine jab.

The covid restrictions have come to an end for England. July 19 is the ultimate date, then citizens will independently choose how to behave. The Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that even social distancing will be scrapped.

End of covid restrictions for England

During the press conference of Monday, the prime minister said citizens will need to learn how to live with the virus. This is why, he took the decision of abandoning all of the remaining covid restrictions. Indeed, masks will be wore on a voluntary basis.

On the other hand, there won’t be regulations for social distancing as this it would have penalized restaurants and pubs.

The idea is that: we still don’t know if and how this virus will evolve or if it will expire.

Therefore we, as citizens, must learn how to deal it autonomously. Some prevention behaviors should become part of our ordinary behavior. The Government thinks this is possible only by setting us free, but scientists do not agree.

Scientist think that such decision may foster the proliferation of the virus variants which are slowly starting to go around England. Their fear is to encounter a more transmissible and potentially vaccine resistant variant. Better or for worse, there are very few cases of the variant so we still do not know if the vaccine actually acts as protector or not.
