Meghan is celebrating her 39th birthday today in LA and Westminster Abbey won’t be ringing his bells for her.
Today is Meghan Markle ’s 39th birthday and she will be celebrating it in their Beverly Hills mansion but without the royal birthday perks.
Megan Markle ’s birthday, no royal perks for her
When Prince Harry and his beloved wife Meghan Markle stepped back from their royal duties, they knew they were saying goodbyes to all the royal birthday perks as well.
While Westminster Abbey’s bells rung for the birthday of Prince Andrew in February and they will also ring for Princess Anne’s 11 days after Meghan’s, they will not be ringing today.
“I hear that Westminster Abbey will not ring its bells for Meghan’s birthday” Daily Mail royal correspondent Richard Eden wrote.
“To add insult to injury, it did ring them for the birthday of beleaguered Prince Andrew in February, even though he’d stepped down from royal duties.”
“The bells are usually rung to mark the birthdays of senior members of the Royal Family, and through the line of succession to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children,” a spokesperson for Westminster Abbey explained.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge promptly posted birthday wishes on their Twitter account:

As well as the Royal Family Twitter account which posted a “very happy birthday” message to the Duchess of Sussex, posting a picture of her with the Queen during a joint visit to Chester in 2018:

Her birthday plans were revealed
It was big news when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left royal duties in January to become financially independent from the royal family. Now that the royal perks have gone, it seems that Meghan Markle’s birthday celebrations will be very different this summer. Meghan and Harry are now living in their Los Angeles mansion and since they are not senior working royals anymore, they will not be having royal birthday celebrations. A very private day is expected and a small celebration, with only his beloved Harry and their son Archie. They are likely to have one visitor: Meghan’s mum, who is reportedly been around much to help out with grandson Archie.
Their home in Los Angeles where they now live is a £15 million mansion owned by Hollywood tycoon Tyler Perry. The low-key birthday celebration probably has to do with the current coronavirus threat, which in US –as well as in many other countries in the world- currently is still a matter of concern.
