England: when covid restrictions will end

Possible delays for the end of covid restrictions, four weeks more of phase four.

Covid restrictions, in the UK, should have ended on the 21st of June. But, a change of plans by the government is pushing the date a little bit further.

England’s citizens, like all the rest of the globe, is just willing that these covid restrictions will end soon.

The vaccination has been claimed by all governments as our open window toward getting back to normal life.

Despite the majority of the population has received their jab, the pure efficiency of vaccines is still unknown; only with a reopening we will see if the covid will be still spreading and how.

For this reason, governments are going really cautious on abandoning completely covid restrictions. The aim is to avoid what happened the last summer. Everything was possible: people travelled, made parties, went out for dinner and so on. In October another trail of covid was up.

When covid restrictions will end for UK

Based on the above considerations, the Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng, said we still need to be cautious and that measures will last until the 19th of July. So English people, which were hoping to be set free today, now will need to wait four extra weeks.

On the contrary, Boris Johnson said he’s against the postponing the ending of phase four of the covid restrictions. He also added that a review will take place on the 5th of July. Therefore there are good changes that actions could be taken sooner.

Today England has 81% of the adult population which received a first jab and the 59% already received both doses. These data is very encouraging for a sooner reopening. When asked Brendan Wren, professor of vaccinology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, if we can hope a leave of covid restrictions prior the 19th, he said:

“We’d still need to be vigilant – but vigilance and vaccination are the two words. So, I think if the numbers continue to be promising then I think there’s great hope we could open up on 5 July.”
