Video: Matteo Flamigni talks about his switch to Ducati

Matteo Flamigni is one of the many crew memember who left Yamaha to follow Valentino Rossi to his new adventure in Ducati, which included crew chief Jeremy Burgess, four mechanics: Alex Briggs, Bernard Ansiau, Brent Stephens and Gary Coleman, and even chef Michael Quarenghi decided to make the switch.

Flamigni is Rossi’s track engineer and in this video interview released by TIM, one of Ducati’s main sponsors, the Italian engineer talks about this important step in his career, the positive and negative aspects of his work and the emotions that the team shares.

Since the video is in Italian we’ve decided to translate it for you.
“The championship titles won with Valentino … the four titles were an important moment, but I consider this switch with Valentino and mine to Ducati just as important, it represents a big turning point in his career and mine and I consider this switch to be very determinative.
The good side of the job is when your work is tied in to the performance and the results.
When you win it means that the job was well done, obviously the bad side are those times when there are difficulties and you have problems finding a way to win, but those are the moments that you learn from, the bad moments are those that teach you a lot.

The team is very diverse, there are mechanics from Australia, New Zealand, Belgium and I’m really happy to be with them and I’ve been with them for a long time and we all know each other very well.
There is always an exchange of opinions and you never stop learning.
It’s very exciting to see an Italian rider on an Italian motorcycle is something that everyone was waiting for, and a victory will be the right reward that will repay everyone for all the hard work.
