That research can be found in the journal Nature Climate Change which was published on Thursday.
The Brazil Amazon believed in absorbing human-caused pollution. However, the dense rainforest has emitted close to one-fifth more carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. The figure is more than it has stored.
Amazon in Brazil emits more carbon pollution
A new study even found that Amazon has released 16.0 billion tonnes of CO2 between 2010 and 2019. Then it sucks up 13.9 billion tonnes.
Jean-Pierre Wigneron, a scientist at France’s National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA) mentioned that this is the first time the figures showed that the dense rainforest in Brazil has flipped.
Now it becomes a net emitter. He also added that the researchers don’t know when the changeover point could be irreversible.

Researchers researched by comparing CO2 volume that is sung into the forest with the volumes released by fires or cutting down trees. The old-growth forest stores carbon and had an impact on slowing the climate crisis. Slowing the climate crisis here means driven by pollutants made by men like the burning of fossil fuels. But when the forest burns, the tree is adding emission level because it pumped carbon matter into the air as CO2.
It might happen because Amazon suffered the worst blazes in a decade last year. It happened after President Jair Bolsonario has proliferated. His government weakened environmental protection then made mining, logging and cattle-ranching more developed.

The study also said that deforestation increased by four times in 2019 compared with 2017 and 2018. It leaps from around 2.5 million acres to 9.6 million acres. It is like an area which has twice the size of Connecticut.
