The US President said November’s presidential election would be the “most inaccurate and fraudulent election” in history.

Trump suggested 2020 election should be postponed

Donald Trump suggested that the November’s election would be “inaccurate and fraudulent” and called for it to be delayed until “people can properly, securely and safely vote”.

He has long said mail-in voting (as postal voting is called in US) is susceptible to fraud, although his claims are not supported by any evidence. “Universal mail-in voting” would turn the presidential election into “the most inaccurate and fraudulent election in history” and a “great embarrassment to the USA”. Trump had already declared mail-in voting was “proving to be a catastrophic disaster” where it was tried out. Six states in the US were ready to hold postal voting for November’s election: Utah, Hawaii, Colorado, California, Oregon and Washington.

Postal ballots will automatically be sent to voters in these states, which then will have to send back on election day. Trump has claimed November’s election would be ruined by the postal and absentee voting, as it would be excessively susceptible to fraud. He said: “The Dems talk of foreign influence in voting, but they know that Mail-In Voting is an easy way for foreign countries to enter the race. This will be in my opinion the most corrupt election in the history of our country”. Donald Trump’s claims are not confirmed by any evidence and, as election security experts confirmed, all forms of voter fraud are very rare.
