Moto2: Aspar Martinez to Meet with Aprilia

Top Spanish manager Jorge ‘AsparMartinez who has always been one of Aprilia’s top clients isn’t taking Aprilia’s pullout from Moto2 lying down and will be going to the Noale based company’s headquarters on Tuesday to find some sort of solution.

Aspar and several other teams were suddenly left with a chassis that they believed was almost ready as they were scheduled to test the new chassis next month, instead the Piaggio Group, who owns Aprilia, released a statement that they would not compete in Moto2.

“Honestly, the news of Aprilia’s withdraw was a big surprise” stated Martinez.
“We believed the project was developing and wanted Aprilia for our arrival in Moto2, because there is no doubt the Italian brand has great experience in World Championships.
Next Tuesday, Gino (Borsoi) and I will travel to Italy to meet with the leaders of Aprilia, and see if we can find a solution.
If there isn’t one, we’ll immediately look at our other options.
What is clear is that we’ll go with the most reliable project, because Julián and Mike, both 125cc World Champions, must have the best equipment to challenge for the title.

We also cannot let down the trust placed in us by our sponsors.
”The other options availabe to Aspar is Suter or Moriwaki.
Suter will be supplying Hayate Racing, Racing Team Germany and Sprint Tecnology and Viessmann Kiefer Racing, while Moriwaki clients are G22 Racing Team, Honda Gresini and Matteoni Racing.
