Max Biaggi with the new Aprilia RSV4 took the provisional pole for round three of the 2009 World Superbike Championship, at Valencia.
Biaggi set the quickest time of the day ten minutes before the end of the session with a time of 1’34″775 and was just over a tenth of a second faster than Ben Spies ,who was in front Xerox Ducati’s Noriyuki Haga by just one-thousandth of a second.
The provisional front row was completed by Michel Fabrizio on his Ducati Xerox.
Tom Sykes picked up 5th place despite a crash with his R1 Yamaha.
Guandalini Ducati’s Jakub Smrz in sixth while Max Neukirchner took seventh.
On the new BMW S1000 RR, Troy Corser was 13th fastest, but only 0.
741s off pole, while debuting John Hopkins on his Stiggy Honda took 18th.
